Frauenkirche |
Dresden is divided in two, the Altstadt (old city) and the Neustadt. Altstadt is on the left bank of Elbe river. I spent few days in Dresden on my last Europe trip. My sister lives there so I could stay longer because I got free accommodation. Dresden is a very beautiful city, especially the Altstadt. The old city is always crowded with tourist and it is very convenient to walk around the area. It's also close to Prager Strasse, a shopping street and Dresden Hauptbahnhof (main station).
One of the most famous sightseeing in Dresden Altstadt is the Frauenkirche, it's a white vintage church. It has beautiful architecture. Altstadt is a very touristic area, restaurants are everywhere, you can also find souvenir shops here. I enjoyed looking at old buildings, while having pretzel. When in Germany, pretzel is a must, you can find it at local bakery around 1-2 Euro. It can be more expensive with additional cheese or cold cuts. Anyway, Dresden also has an opera with very beautiful architecture. You may also want to visit the famous Dresdner Zwinger.
How to get there:
Dresden Altstadt is close to Dresden Hauptbahnhof (main station). Go out from train station to the Prager Strasse, go straight.
Quite an interesting city to explore the history, thank you for sharing it with us.
