Yogyakarta is a compact city with many things to discover from the beautiful scenery to artsy gallery that can be found almost in every part of the city. But here at Kemangi Bistro, I didn't feel like I was in Yogyakarta but Ubud, Bali. Dine in with a pool view under shady tree was quite peaceful. Kemangi Bistro serves à la Carte menu for lunch and dinner while buffet menus are available for breakfast and dinner.
From Bread Rolls to Tempting Desserts - good hotel serve good bread, do you agree me? For a five stars hotel, honestly I was expecting more than bread rolls, mini cakes, and pastry bites. Those breads were so good, but I didn't find it so attractive. I think they need to improve the displays and props, though the chocolate cakes were decent.
Smoked Salmon Carpaccio (IDR 58.000) served with capers, lettuce, and extra virgin olive oil - very appetizing, perfect dish to start a meal. The smoked salmon was decent, never been a fan of salmon but I enjoyed this dish quiet a lot.
Pizza Margherita (IDR 48.000) - a classic pizza with mozzarella, tomato, and basil. Thin crust pizza baked in a wood fired oven creating a nice smokey aroma. Good pizza though the crust was way too thin for me, it's not that I'm into the bread-like pizza but soft chewy dough with crispy edge is just better for me.
Antipasto Misto (IDR 48.000) - consist of warm beef artichoke, chicken capsicum, and blanched prawn with cucumber salsa.
Hot Stone Steak: Sirloin (IDR 168.000) served with fresh sauteed vegetables, mashed potato or fries, and sauces. There were 3 different sauces to be dipped with, BBQ, Teriyaki, and Mustard sauce.
The signature of this place, Ikan Kuah Kemangi (IDR 75.000) - pan fried snapper fish served with marbled potato, aromatic leaves, and tumeric sauce. The sauce was quiet thick and rich, quiet tasty but the taste of the other spices dominated and I can't clearly taste the basil as the name refers to kemangi (basil). Anyway, some rice please?
Balinese Fusion Oven Baked Rolled Venison (IDR 179.000) - a unique combination of spicy venison and sate lilit served with lawar kacang, angel hair pasta, rice, and sambal matah. There's only one to be noted, please be generous with the sambal matah.
For a restaurant in a five stars hotel, Kemangi Bistro is quiet affordable. The outdoor space is so pretty, perfect for Sunday brunch. So how about stay in Hyatt Yogyakarta for the weekend?
